Why Playstation 4 is out selling the XBone by a huge margin

Playstation 4 has now sold over 7 Million units, that's sold. It's hard to work out but some Internet claims are that the XBone has sold under 4 Million.

Price has nothing to do with it as MS have slashed the price and include a free game to match the PS4 price and in fact with it including the camera it's arguably better value. Many UK retailers have gone further to slash the price as consoles were piling up. So why is it piling up on retail shelves?

For me it's fast become the child in the corner that other kids poke fun at. From the rushed first showing to try and counter the calm, cool launching of the PS4 in February 2013 to the constant,"It looks better on PlayStation 4". The huge U-turn the doesn't need going over again. Fact is, Playstation 4 is fast becoming the console of this generation.

Titanfall was the game that would do it for MS, no. The much hyped FPS couldn't boost sales even in it's home nation with the PS4 outselling it again, this with some retailers still out of stock and finding it hard to secure PS4's.

It's dog ugly. It looks like something from the 80's. PS4 on the other hand looks hi-tech, slim and that blue light, everyone loves blue lights.

Sony has the backing of developers with Vita and PS4 getting much love over the past few months, sure they are smaller games but have you seen the app store on Google and I-Pad?
Sony haven't even started yet with some huge games due over the next year with just a handful of exclusives for XBone. This years E3 will be massive.

See below a list of games for both consoles and you can see why the PS4 is fast becoming the console people want.

Fro My Lord....... Lego The Hobbit PS4 has Inverted Camera!

For years gamers like myself have had to forgo the open world Lego games. A simple omission in the control set-up alienated what must be 50% of gamers in the newer open world parts of Lego games.

Inverted Y-axis is common in most game but TT Games has never put it in the console games, strange as the Vita version of Lego LOTR had Inverted options.

Good news, TT Games have listened to the masses.

A patch for the PS4 version was prompted on start up of the game. It's unclear if the option was added later.

I must point out that the option to invert does not show until you start the story. I can't comment on any other version of the game so please post up in the comments if you own the PS3 or Vita version.

It's worth pointing out that Lego The Hobbit looks stunning on PS4 and runs in full HD (1080p).

Watchdogs to run at 1080p on the PS4 but not the Xbox One ?

In a video interview that has now been taken down Ubisoft cinematics animation lead Lars Bonde confirmed that the PS4 version of Watch Dogs will run in full 1080p but wouldn't say what resolution its Xbox counterpart would run at.

"Of course there are nuances to it," he added. "We are utilizing Xbox One to its full capabilities and the same with PS4, of course, so I know that, as far as to my knowledge, on PS4 it will run in full HD."

This comes after rumours that the Xbox version would fall short of running at 1080p.

More The Last of Us PS4 Details

With The Last of Us PS4 now officially revealed Naughty Dog has been talking about it some more.

They revealed that development began immediately after the PS3 version was finished:

“We had a lot of people on the forums saying ‘can I play this on PlayStation 4?’ We had actually been anticipating that, and started working on it pretty much as soon as we finished the PlayStation 3 [version]," he explained. "We weren’t sure if it was going to go anywhere, but when we saw the fans clamouring for it we doubled-down, and put more effort behind it. "

The game should also look fantastic with full 1080p HD video and much more:

"The graphic fidelity has been turned up to eleven. We’ve got 1080p, we’re pushing the draw distances further, we’re creating higher resolution character models, better lighting, better shadows.”

Stewart Gilray clears up Lanning's "performance gap" "quote"

Quite a stir has been made about how our friends at  Oddworld Games namely Lorne Lanning, has said that the inferior Xbox one hardware can some how magically catch up to PS4 performance without a hardware overhaul. Cinimablend have cleared this up.(thanks)

Recently there was an interview with Just Add Water's highly outspoken developer Lorne Lanning. In the interview it was interpreted that the “performance gap” between the PS4 and Xbox One would narrow. This is not true. The CEO of Just Add Water, the company behind the Oddworld games, has come forward to clarify the situation.

The original interview came from Xbox Achievements, where they interpreted Lanning's comments about the gap thinning between the two eighth gen consoles as something that would happen over time. However, CEO Stewart Gilray spoke with Worlds Factory to clear up those statements, saying...
“Actually that is NOT what he said. I spoke to Lorne afterwards and what he meant when speaking to that guy was that budgets, schedules and perceivable differences would narrow, NOT that the Xbox One performance is improving to align with PS4, that is just physically impossible. The PS4 has MORE COMPUTE units, and faster memory and a whole bunch of things, that would make that physically impossible to happen.”

That makes a heck of a lot of sense considering that – as Gilray mentions – you can't make physically weaker hardware better performing (or equal performing) to higher grade hardware. Like he says... it's impossible.

Of course, Lanning's misinterpreted quotes didn't stop the fanboys (and to an extent, Microsoft) from leveraging the comments with propaganda for the Xbox One's resurgence in the market thanks to things like better software tools and a new SDK to improve the ESRAM performance. This was also furthered along with development buzzwords like “tiled resources” (which isn't a miracle 1080p feature by the way; it's just a better way to buffer and load assets) and big announcements about DirectX 12 being some sort of heaven-send to excel the Xbox One to new console gaming heights.

Sorry to MisterXMedia followers: it's all a pipe dream.

The PS4 outdoes the Xbox One in the CPU benchmarks, in the resolution benchmarks, in the graphics benchmarks and in terms of overall hardware capabilities thanks to its unified 8GB of shared GDDR5 memory.

While the new software kits and development tools will help in the long run with optimizing games and apps on the Xbox One, it's not going to magically make it on par in performance to the PlayStation 4. Even more than that, Sony will also be releasing newer and better tools as well, so it's not as if the Xbox One's optimization will be happening in a vacuum where competitive console advancements don't exist.

What Gilrey says, though, will apply for the entirety of this generation. What this means is that the Xbox One will always trail behind the PS4 in terms of technological performance... like a busboy carrying a dignitary's luggage.
